The existing two-storey house has been replaced for an exceptionally beautiful new design.
A ”fabric-first” approach to the building was adopted, creatively using simple materials, which has a positive impact on the character and appearance of the area. Despite its modern design, the house contributes to the local conservation area through its quality and content. It uses renewable energy sources, an air-source heat pump and solar panels, and showcases a limited materials palette. This includes charred Shou Sugi Ban Naoshima wood: a beautiful, sustainable material which glistens in the light and interacts with the varying depths of shadows the wooded backdrops offers.
